While at first glance the Toyota FT-SE concept car looks very similar to the GR86 and Toyota Supra, there are ultra-modern touches both inside and out that set it apart.

Going from nose to tail, the LED headlights span from the top of the hood, go around the bumper, and extend past the front wheel for improved visibility on the road.

The spoiler at the back of the future Toyota Sports EV is very similar to its predecessors, with similar measurements to the GR86 and Toyota Supra – but there is something new.

Namely LED tail lights at the back of the two-seater concept that come out from the fenders.

The Toyota FT-SE is powerful, low, and wide, with a silhouette designed to advance its aerodynamics and complement its high-performance, next-generation electric powertrain.

Slim, high energy density batteries, as well as downsizing the motor, transmission, and air conditioning unit, allowed Toyota to focus on stable cornering, responsive handling, and confident braking.

But it’s the sleek and modern cabin interior of the Toyota FT-SE that deserves the most attention.

The immersive driving experience features two low-level, high-visibility screens from which you can choose between a normal driving mode and a ‘track’ mode that features ‘boost’ and ‘stability’ information.

The upholstery is a whisper-soft Alcantara for ultimate driver comfort.

Meanwhile, there are 3D-printed, carbon fiber structures – including kneepads – to cushion interior surfaces for when you’re on the track and experiencing G-force.

Per Toyota themselves, it’s an ‘exciting potential showcase for high-performance sports cars in the carbon neutral era’.

It was designed with knowledge from Toyota Gazoo Racing‘s motorsport participation and next-generation battery-electric technology.

It’s the Japanese automotive manufacturer’s vision of ‘how a driver’s relationship with their vehicle could evolve and deepen’.

And, speaking of evolution, with ongoing customized software updates for every driver, the hope is the Toyota Sports EV of the future will become a lifestyle partner rather than simply a physical transportation tool.

In other EV news, the world’s first electric G-Wagen has a soundbar under the hood so it sounds like a gas engine.
