There’s no shortage of weird and wonderful cars in the world, but what about motorcycles?

Well, there are plenty of them, too.

So, counting down from five to one, here are five of the weirdest motorcycles we’ve ever seen.

5. Boxx

READ MORE! This guy just built his very own car out of scrap metal

As the name suggests, the ‘Boxx’ has a boxy appearance and looks remarkably like a suitcase.

Boxx Corp‘s portable electric bike is just a meter long and has a top speed of 56 km/h (35 mph), with a battery range of 32 kilometers (20 miles) before it needs recharging.

Its tiny dimensions mean it can be stowed away in the trunk of a car should you wish to drive somewhere, park up, get the moped out, then go for a spin.

4. Peraves MonoTracer MTE-150

What you’re looking at here is the Peraves MonoTracer MTE-150.

It’s a 1,200 lb battery-powered motorcycle with an enclosed cabin and gullwing doors.

As well as being incredibly efficient, it makes 200 horsepower and can do 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in under four seconds, topping out at 241 km/h (150 mph).

While this might sound impressive, the Swiss-built electric motorcycle isn’t without its flaws.

For starters, it has a base price of $100,000, and when they tried to bring it to the US, the Environmental Protection Agency, Customs, and the Transportation Department wouldn’t let it in.

3. Uno Dicycle

This unusual-looking thing is the Uno Dicycle – the brainchild of Ben Gulak.

When the Canadian teenager visited China in 2006, he saw just how many small vehicles were causing major pollution in cities.

So, he came up with the idea of a self-balancing electric motorcyle with two wheels mounted side by side.

It’s based around a gyroscope with the rider leaning forward to speed up, like a Segway, and side to side to steer.

But, like many of the other weirdest motorcycles on this list, it had issues.

Its first test ride resulted in a crash and broken kneecap for Gulak, and other tests even started electrical fires.

2. Whitelock Tinker Toy

It’s actually insane that someone came up with the idea of building a motorcycle with 48 cylinders.

That person was Simon Whitelock, a British bike nut who built the Whitelock Tinker Toy just for the sake of it.

Technically, it’s got 49 cylinders, as Whitelock needed to add a 5cc 2-stroke engine to get the main engine started.

It’s made up of three-cyclinder stacks built using 16 Kawasaki KH250S engines mated to a BMW motorcycle transmission.

Although the bike runs after a start-up procedure, apparently, it “barely rides”.

Who cares, though, because it has a 48 cylinder engine and looks absolutely crazy.

1. Propeller-powered motorcycle

This functioning propeller-powered motorcycle was created by Brazilian YouTuber Professor Pardal.

Having completely removed the motorcycle’s engine, he repositioned it at the front of the bike and fixed a massive homemade wooden propeller to the front of it.

Instead of kick-starting it with your foot, the propeller needs to be spun to start the bike.

The propeller prompts the crankshaft to rotate which pushes the piston against the piston head, generating friction.

This builds up pressure and a mixture of air and fuel pumped in from the valves gets ignited.

It may look and sound crazy, but it legitimately works.
