Apple has revealed details of a major update coming to iPhone – and iOS 18 includes AI as well as other new features.
It’s making the iPhone customizable in completely new ways.
It’s one of its biggest iPhone updates ever – both generally and specifically for the apps you know and love.

iOS 18 customization
From the outset of picking up their phone, users can arrange apps and widgets in any open space on their Home Screen with iOS 18.
They can also customize the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, changing their color scheme in the process.
What’s more, they can access more controls in Control Center almost instantly.
Apps can also be entirely from view and protected from prying eyes using your phone behind face recognition.

iPhone app updates
Apple has announced its ‘biggest ever redesign’ to the ‘Photos’ app.
It’s got a simplified and unified view, new collections to help you browse themes and the ability to pin them, and customization memories of those special moments.
Meanwhile, the ‘Control Center’ has been redesigned to provide easier access to things you do daily.
Customization and flexibility are key, offering quick access to new groups of a user’s most-utilised controls.
The Mail app has been updated with filtering allowing users to automatically pick out the most important messages, effortlessly.
Hopping over to ‘iMessage’, words can be underlined or given dramatic movements to help users get their message across.
And if you’re waiting for the right time to say it, these messages can be scheduled to be sent later.
Speaking of features: Apple has unveiled an important ‘safety button’ all iPhone users should know about.
Groundbreaking iPhone technology
No signal? No problem. New satellite messaging features on the iPhone 14 and later.
This function allows iPhone users to send texts and get their messages sent even when they’re out of signal.
Apple Intelligence on iOS 18
AI features, as well as a bigger and better Siri function, both fall under the umbrella of ‘Apple Intelligence’.
It’s currently restricted to iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max from autumn and isn’t available on the beta version of the software.
This is further evidence that some iPhones are becoming obsolete.
An animation kicks in when Siri is invoked signaling, too, a host of new ways of interacting.
As well as the iPhone, these updates are also coming to iPadOS 18, the operating system for Apple’s tablets.
We previously heard about an Accessibility feature allowing iPhone users to control Apple tech with just their eyes.
