This car expert is showing people exactly what to look for when buying a used Tesla.
Even if a car looks great from the outside, buyers should be wary – especially if the car was pre-owned.
He warned that you never really know what sort of condition the previous owner left it in unless you do some very important checks.
TikToker Textomar is giving his followers an insight on what to look out for.

What to look out for when shopping for a used Tesla
Getting a pre-owned car can sometimes be a bit of a gamble.
Sometimes it can pay off, like it did for this guy who got a Camaro SS and found the previous owner had left a surprise for him.
But sometimes you just end up inheriting the car’s issues from the last guy who drove it, as was the case with this Chicago man and his Chevrolet Silverado.

One car expert created a TikTok giving buyers a heads-up on what to check for when buying a used Tesla.
In the caption, he wrote: ‘Clean Carfax, and looks perfectly normal to the average person. Learning how to look for prior damage can save you thousands.’
So what was the problem with the Tesla?
“This looks like a perfectly normal Tesla Model Y,” the TikToker explained.
“However I noticed the gap here [on one of the doors] that was larger than the driver’s side.”

Once he opened up the door, it started to become apparent what was wrong.
After removing the molding, he brought the phone closer to give viewers a closer look.
What was wrong with this Model Y?
The first thing he noticed was that the welding didn’t come from the factory.
But worse than that, there was rust beneath the molding.

When directly compared to the driver’s side, it quickly became apparent that one side had sustained fairly severe frame damage.
The expert said this made it clear to him that the car was damaged at some point and major body work was undertaken to restore it.
It just goes to show that exercising caution is always the best course of action when it comes to car buying.
Missing these details might not seem like a big deal, but they could potentially cost buyers a lot further down the line.

It’s better to know about these issues upfront so you can make an informed decision.
