Cell phone maker Honor has developed an AI ‘live translation’ that makes conversing with someone speaking a foreign language much easier.

The amazing development was unveiled during this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

It even works in face-to-face conversations, allowing each speaker to have speech translated back to them.

Honor said their system is capable of ‘understanding context, grammar and even cultural nuances over time’.

The Chinese company was a former subsidiary of Huawei, who sold the brand in November 2020.

The headquarters are located in Shenzhen, China, and it makes tablet computers and wearables in addition to cell phones.

But translation isn’t the only innovative feature that comes with the Alpha Plan.

The Honor Magic 7 Pro will also allow users to detect deepfakes in videos.

This feature is needed now more than ever, as news reports constantly point toward people being conned out of money thanks to deepfake scams.

According to Honor, the detector has been trained through the use of videos and images.

It’s capable of performing identification, screening, and comparison processes in just a few seconds.

Things that would usually go unnoticed by humans – like pixel-level imperfections – will be picked up by this feature.

And if that wasn’t handy enough, an AI upscale feature will also be included.

Through this, cell phone users will be able to upgrade old pictures to give them a better quality.
