New teaser drops for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with a major spoiler

A new teaser for Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has dropped and it’s finally confirmed some big news – The Illuminati are coming.

Hardcore fans kind of knew this big reveal would go down after a previous trailer showed Doctor Strange in handcuffs before a shadowy group of people.

And maybe Marvel wanted to keep it a secret, but it proved futile with the masses on social media figuring out all the clues.

A new teaser hit YouTube mere moments ago and while it’s only 30 seconds long, there’s plenty to talk about.

The new video starts out with a delightfully ominous voice-over:

“In 10 days, nothing can prepare you for the truth.”

Then we get a:

“Everything you’ve ever known led you to this moment.”

But that’s just pre-hype for what happens next.

Cut to Karl Mordo as he says:

“Stephen Strange, the Illuminati will see you now.”

Who are Marvel’s Illuminati?

In the comic books, the Illuminati are a council of superheroes from various factions.

They operate in secret and make world-changing decisions from the shadows.

Professor X is probably the most famous member of the Illuminati, so this could be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s official introduction to the X-Men.

Who is Karl Mordo?

Baron Karl Amadeus Mordo is well known in comic books and is a foe of Doctor Strange. He was created by Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko in Strange Tales #111 (August 1963).

Fans will remember Mordo from the first Doctor Strange film, where he trained Stephen Strange.

At the end of that storyline, Mordo left his fellow sorcerers because of the actions of the Ancient One and Dr Strange. Mordo became disillusioned with how they had used their powers.

When is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in cinemas?

The movie officially releases in theatres on May 6 but check your local cinema because it could vary around the world.

Sam Raimi is the director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and he knows a thing or two about superhero flicks after he essentially kick-started the modern era of blockbuster movies with the Toby Maguire Spider-Man trilogy.

And anyone who knows his Evil Dead movies will be rubbing their hands together with glee to see how Raimi can put his mark on the MCU.
