A huge crowd gathered outside a newly opened hypercar showroom in the UK.

The new showroom opened in Blackburn, which is not what you’d call a village, but not exactly London either.

So, as you can imagine, this is not something the locals get to see every day.

The showroom was opened by a car hire company, that says demand for hypercars around these parts is greater than we think.

The reason why the company chose Blackburn

The new showroom will be home to a variety of luxury cars, most of which are supercars and hypercars, but there are also a few Rolls-Royce, Range Rover and Bentley models.

The company behind it is called Larossa Supercar Hire and, according to the showroom manager, we shouldn’t underestimate demand.

“These cars are in high demand for weddings and special events, especially with the rise of social media where people want something unique for their big day,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph.

Blackburn has a population of around 120,000 so the pool of customers is relatively narrow, but – then again – competition is also scarce.

This is why Larossa aims to become the first – and potentially only – place to get hypercars in Blackburn.

The difference between a hypercar and a supercar

There’s no exact definition but – broadly speaking – a hypercar is a more extreme version of a supercar.

Some people consider the 1993 McLaren F1, the one that Elon Musk used to own at some point, to be the first hypercar in history.

Others argue that Bugatti started the hypercar saga with the Veyron, a car that’s so expensive to run it costs you $21,000 just for an oil change.

At the end of the day, a hypercar needs to check three boxes.

It has to be more powerful than a ‘normal’ supercar, more expensive and production should be limited.

We did actually write about the difference recently, and you can read the full details here.
