An oil change normally takes up to an hour for most cars, but it’s a different story when it comes to the Bugatti Veyron.

Also, an oil change typically costs up to $100 for most ‘consumer’ cars.

That’s certainly not true for luxury supercars, especially the Bugatti Veyron, because you would need to shell out $21,000 for an oil change.

The Veyron is an engineering marvel and certainly no ordinary supercar, but why is it so expensive to maintain?

Well, there’s no clear answer to such questions when it comes to luxury supercars, especially a car like this.

It just does, and if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it anyway.

The below video shows how a Veyron’s super-premium oil change is done — in a whopping 27 hours.

Royal Exotic Cars, a company that rents high-end luxury cars, showed how a Veyron oil change took place.

Don’t worry, though — the video isn’t 27 hours long.

They also explain the actual reason behind the process’ extremely high cost.

Mostly, it has something to do with Bugatti’s brand image.

The luxury automaker undoubtedly has a distinguished name and creates machines that make people dream.

Plus, you can customize a Bugatti as much as you want, like this Bugatti Chiron Super Sport.

However, coming to why the process takes so long — the real reason is behind how the Veyron is built.

Your car might only have two oil plugs that need maintenance.

The Veyron? Sixteen.

Moreover, mechanics only need to pop the car’s hood open and change the oil in normal cars.

But when it comes to the Veyron, the car needs to be put on a lift and have its rear bumper, side panels, and many more parts of the exterior come off to get access to the engine area.

The process seems quite hectic, and when combined with the Bugatti logo, the $21,000 price tag starts to make a bit of sense.

Now imagine if that’s just an oil change — how much would it take to regularly maintain a Bugatti Veyron over a whole year?

It certainly makes you wonder about the added costs of owning an extremely expensive luxury supercar.
