When you’re one of the richest athletes in the world – Michael Jordan – you can pretty much buy anything you want – including a superyacht.

From a $3.5 million hypercar to an ultra-rare timepiece worth $155,000 and a $14.8 million Chicago mansion – the list goes on.

But one of the most expensive single purchases Jordan has made to-date was an $80 million superyacht named ‘Joy’.

It’s not the only one he owns, with the former NBA star having also spent $21 million on a superyacht called ‘Mr. Terrible’.

But back to the superyacht Joy, which Jordan purchased back in 2016.

Michael Jordan was first spotted cruising the superyacht on his way to the Caribbean island of Saint Barthélemy with some of his closest friends.

Spanning 230 feet in length and outlining at almost 10 feet, it’s hard to miss to be fair.

The vessel has a maximum speed of 16 knots (29 km/h / 18 mph), while its cruising speed is 12 knots (22 km/h / 13 mph).

Its superstructure is built of aluminum, the decks are made of teak wood, and the entire ship is insulated with glass aluminum to accommodate changing weather.

And there’s a good reason why Michael Jordan named the superyacht Joy.

It’s pretty much got anything and everything the star could ever want and need.

The vessel – which has five decks – boasts eight cabins, an indoor jacuzzi, a movie theater, a spa, and a stunning dining room.

But perhaps one of the biggest perks of the yacht is the owner’s pavilion, which is where you’ll find the yacht’s penthouse suite, personal office, and a terrace to check out the best views of the ocean.

And when Michael Jordan wants to stay active while aboard the yacht, there’s a gym and an indoor basketball court to keep him occupied.

But as you can imagine, when it comes to maintenance, Joy definitely doesn’t come cheap.

She requires a crew of around 19 people onboard 24/7 and costs a jaw-dropping $800,000 a week to maintain as per Marca.

Luckily, the superyacht isn’t exclusive to Michael Jordan and/or his friends and family.

In fact, anyone can rent Joy for a week – all you need is $840,000.
