Being stranded in a car is a totally reasonable fear for most people to have.
Well, try being stranded over 100 miles into the Arizona strip.
This Hyundai managed to do just that, leaving themselves in the middle of the desert.
Thankfully, help was on the way to get them out.

Hyundai stranded in the sticks
Matt, who runs the YouTube channel Matt’s Off Road Recovery, receives a rescue call.
Him and his family are on their way to a rescue call for a Hyundai Santa Fe, which is stranded near Grand-Canyon-Parashant, in Arizona.
Matt notes that one of the core dangers of being stuck on the Arizona strip is that there is ‘almost no cell phone coverage’ in the area.

The team drive out in their pickup truck, nicknamed ‘Blue Steel’, with a special-built recovery vehicle in tow.
The recovery car, called ‘Morrvair’, is a 1962 Chevrolet Corvair Lakewood Wagon.
However, Matt has rebuilt it into an off-road machine, with 40″ tyres and massively raised suspension.
It almost looks like a small monster truck.
Stuck in the mud: Matt’s Off-Road Recovery grounded.
Unfortunately for Matt and his team, it has been raining heavily. Which means mud. Lots of mud.
Their pickup truck gets grounded, so Matt deploys his Morrvair off-road vehicle to forge a path.
They make their way through, and also manage to encounter snow.
Yes, snow.
Matt and his family fight through a scene resembling a winter wonderland, before finally finding the hampered Hyundai.
To their credit, the stranded Santa Fe is well-equipped despite being in such a bad location.
The Hyundai Sante Fe is all-wheel drive, and this one has snow chains on the tyres. Clearly, the possibility of being stranded was a worry to these people.
Thankfully, Morrvair comes with a massive mechanical winch, so it’s wrapped around the front wheel of the Hyundai, and they manage to drag it out.
Hyundai brought back by Matt
Matt and his family finally make their way out of the dismal conditions, Hyundai Sante Fe in tow.
Two of Matt’s sons navigate the Hyundai through the treacherous conditions.
After navigating through some big puddles in the dark, the crew finally get to the last obstacle – a big hill.
Their pickup, Blue Steel, slides into a ditch, so the Morrvair winches it out in the pitch black.
Finally, the crew meet the customers to hand them their recovered Hyundai Santa Fe.
In short, the lesson here seems pretty clear – if in doubt, rebuild a 1962 Chevrolet Corsair and make yourself a beast of an off-road car to handle the worst conditions.
