The $250,000 Bugatti Veyron watch that you’ve probably never heard of

The Bugatti Watch

Most people probably don’t know this watch exists – as it was first made when social media was still brand new.

Ten years ago, watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled an amazing timepiece dubbed the Bugatti Type 370.

It was released about the same time as the Bugatti Veyron was officially launched.

The cogs inside the timepiece are seen here.

This piece is not as flashy as Jacob & Co’s Bugatti Chiron watch (the one with the tiny W16 engine in it), but then again it is a lot less expensive.

The watch was designed for drivers, with a sideways-mounted barrel movement that means you can tell the time while you hands are on the steering wheel.

It is also incredibly rare, only 20 pieces were produced.

Each one had a different dial and strap to match the color of the particular Veyron model they drew inspiration from.

It cost about $250,000 when it was new, but it hasn’t aged well. These days you can get it for just $100,000 on the pre-owned market.

The partnership between Parmigiani and Bugatti officially began in 2005.

And to celebrate their 10-year anniversary, the brands launched an upgraded version of the watch.

The first Parmigiani x Bugatti was limited edition, but with this model they took it even further, making only three, each with its own defining design features.

So let’s talk about price: Unlike the first watch that preceded, this one didn’t officially go on sale.

Since they’ve only made three one-offs, the identity of the owners will remain undisclosed until or if they’re put up for auction.

In that case, we could easily expect bids of at least seven figures.
