70-year-old WW2 Jeep taken on a 1,152 mile Utah off-road trip runs into problems

These guys took a 70-year-old Jeep on a notoriously difficult trail in the mountains of Utah.

The Jeep struggled with the challenge and broke down a million times, which is hardly surprisingly.

A lot of things went wrong.

But, and this is indeed a surprise, they managed to fix it with one simple change.

One change made this 70-year-old Jeep ‘behave’

YouTuber, Westen Champlin, took a 70-year-old Jeep, a similar model to the one that had been used just 10 years prior in WWII, to Utah.

The idea was to tackle the ‘Top of the World’ trail in Moab, Utah.

It all immediately went wrong.

For starters, the Jeep wouldn’t do better than 20mph, and it broke down constantly.

The gas pedal was problematic, the generator mounts were leaking, as was the exhaust, and the engine was overheating.

Interestingly, while fixing the gas pedal and the generator did help, the one thing that truly made a difference was a new radiator.

Lesson of the day, whatever else is wrong with your car, if you can fix overheating problems, you’re probably more than halfway there.

This YouTuber doesn’t do ordinary

Westen Champlin doesn’t do ordinary, and he particularly loves challenges on hazardous terrain with unusual cars.

The thing is, he likes to take cars he modified by himself off-road, which always produces hilarious results.

A while back, he took a modified Chevrolet Corvette off-road, and it looked totally wild.

We should also point out that there’s no such thing as a stock off-road Chevrolet Corvette, unlike for example the Porsche 911 Dakar or the Lamborghini Sterrato.

On another occasion, he turned a Ford Mustang into a fire-spitting monster with exhaust tubes sticking out of the hood.
