  • We’d seen Abeona before, but so far we’d only seen static images
  • She is Jeff Bezos’ ‘other’ yacht, which he uses as a shadow boat for his main yacht

Jeff Bezos famously owns one of the largest and most expensive yachts in the world, and an equally pricey shadow boat to support said yacht.

She is called Abeona and so far, we’d only seen static images of her.

Until now.

The first thing that stands out in the video shared to Instagram by Mickey Superyachts is Abeona is extremely large for a shadow boat.

Shadow boat, in nautical jargon, is a boat designed to support a larger boat.

So if Abeona looks this big, we can only imagine what Koru, Jeff Bezos’ main yacht for which Abeona is a shadow boat, must look like next to it.

The second thing that’s a bit ironic is that Abeona is actually being a towed by what looks like a massively smaller fishing boat.

And, the third thing we’ve noticed, is Abeona also carries speedboats and smaller yachts on her deck.

It feels like we’re looking at a Matryoshka doll of boats.

Abeona can house provisions and supplies, and it can accommodate up to 65 people, 45 passengers and 20 crew, including medical personnel.

She’s 75 meters long – or 246 feet – and big enough to include a helipad and additional garages for all tenders, smaller boats and jet skis.

And it costs a whopping $75 million.

These numbers are impressive, but they all pale in comparison to those of Koru.

Here’s a few facts about Jeff Bezos’ main yacht, Koru.

She is the second-largest sailing yacht in the world (after the boat only known as ‘A‘), measuring 127 meters – or 417 feet.

It has three masts, capacity for 18 passengers and 40 crew and it costs an eye-watering $500 million.

Still, for a man worth $197 billion – the third wealthiest person in the world at the time of writing – this is peanuts.
