This Tesla owner proved that he’s extra energy efficient by using 1,000 watts of solar panels to charge his car.

With EVs becoming increasingly popular all across the world, this way of charging could make them even more eco-friendly.

The solar panels could add charge over the course of the day and amount to some serious miles.

But are they the best solution in every country?

Charging EVs can sometimes be quite the task

With more battery-powered vehicles gracing the roads, finding a place to stop and charge in every town can be a challenge and a cost.

One person got so frustrated charging electric cars that they decided to return to combustion engines.

Although, one man in Colorado with seven Teslas finessed the system and revealed that he never pays for charging and how he does it.

All is not lost, though, as this Tesla owner’s way of charging his car could make all EV owners’ lives easier.

This charging method includes the sun

We all know that finding a charger can be a royal pain in the butt. This man, though, has the perfect solution.

Yes, that’s right – he’s using the sun. That big ball of energy in the sky helps to keep his EV alive.

His method includes using two lots of solar panels on his Tesla, with 500 watts on both the front and back of the car.

“I can use it anywhere,” he said as he showed off his eco-friendly charging method in a YouTube clip.

“For every eight hours of sun, I’m getting roughly 30 miles of charge,” he continued.

But while this is even more energy efficient than charging, it may not work in every corner of the globe.

Tesla already has a different kind of solar feature raring to go

We know what you’re thinking – surely the only solar way to power an EV is from the sun.

Well, think again.

Tesla has a feature called ‘Charge on Solar’. Allow Tesla to explain.

“With Charge on Solar, your Tesla vehicle can charge using only excess solar energy produced by your Tesla solar system. Using excess energy to charge your electric vehicle maximizes the value of your home’s solar system,” the maker stated.

Although, to use it, you need to set limits on the app and have special hardware and software updates.

Would you fancy using the sun to power your car?

Although we would, our friends across the pond in the UK, where sunny days are few and far between, may beg to differ.
