Pitbull is a man of many talents.
Mr Worldwide himself is known for featuring in some of the most popular songs of his generation.
However, the 305 native came from remarkably humble beginnings in Miami, Florida.
And that humility is perfectly shown in how he spent his first paycheck on his mom.

Pitbull: Humble origins for global superstar
Armando Christian Perez grew up in extremely humble origins.
Far from the jets, the parties, and the cars, the man that would become Pitbull grew up in Miami.
Ironically, Perez and the car community have always enjoyed close proximity.
In 2003, Pitbull was starting out as a music artist, and was beginning to make a name for himself.
That year, his song Oye, became the soundtrack to one of the most iconic movies of the decade – 2 Fast 2 Furious.
Set in the star’s native Miami, the song became the perfect background to the movie, which starred the late Paul Walker, as well as Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson.
Over the years, the rapper has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of the world’s most popular artists.
From 2021 to 2025, Pitbull was also a co-owner of the Trackhouse Racing NASCAR team.
Armando uses first paycheck for his mom
Growing up in Carol City, Miami to Cuban immigrant parents, the rapper has always enjoyed an extremely close relationship with his mom.
In fact, Pitbull claimed once that, growing up, his mother was ‘both his father and his mother.’
But he also offered another interesting story involving him and his mom.
In an interview with CNBC Make it, Pitbull told the story of how he bought his mom a car with his first paycheck.
“Well, my first check was for $1,500”, the Miami native explained.
The rapper joked that, when he went to cash his paycheck, it bounced.
However, it was there the next day for him.
He explained that, when it came in, he took $1,200 and bought his mom a new car.
It was, according to the man himself, a 1988 Mazda hatchback.
Something tells us that Pitbull’s mom must be very proud of him for all that he has achieved. What a good son he is!
