While this year’s iPhone 16 lineup is still a few months away from being launched there are already many rumors about the devices.
We have listed some of the major upgrades you can expect from the new lineup, according to the leaks.
However, take this info with a grain of salt while also making an informed decision about your next smartphone purchase.

Set to come out in the fall of 2024, the iPhone 16 models will feature faster chips, camera improvements, and possibly a new button.
Larger displays
The Pro and Pro Max models will also get larger 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays (increased from 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays).
Capture button
All iPhone 16 models will also feature a new “Capture” button located below the power button for recording video with pressure and swipe controls.
Wi-Fi 7 support
According to the leaks, the lineup will also include Wi-Fi 7 support for this year’s Pro and Pro Max models.
Upgraded Ultra Wide lens
The Pro models will also feature an upgraded 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera lens for higher-resolution photos.
Upgraded 5x Telephoto lens
Both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max could also get 5x Telephoto lenses in 2024, instead of the technology being limited to the larger Pro Max.
A18 Pro chip
Apple is also manufacturing a next-generation A18 and A18 Pro chip with TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process.
It will be more powerful and more battery-efficient than any previous iPhone chip.
However, it is very likely only the larger Pro Max model will feature the A18 Pro chip.
Improved thermal design
The new iPhone 16 models are also rumored to feature a new thermal design for heat distribution.
The phone’s battery will likely have a metal casing similar to the recent Apple Watch models.
5G advanced
The 16 Pro lineup will also be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem that supports the “5G Advanced” standard.
Upgraded microphones
The new microphones will feature a higher signal-to-noise ratio and improved water resistance and could even enable better interactions with Siri’s rumored generative AI features on iOS 18.
Neural Engine
The significantly increased core count in the Neural engine suggests Apple is leaning more into AI with iOS 18 and some of its AI features might be exclusive to iPhone 16.
Unfortunately, most of the new features will be limited to the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models just like Apple’s previous lineups.
