Porsche unveiled a new speedboat, the 850 Fantom Air, that uses almost exactly the same powertrain as the Porsche Macan EV.
It’s relatively small but quite fast.
It’s expensive, too.
But the best part is probably the Porsche ‘steering wheel’.

850 Fantom Air speedboat is a supercar for the seas, powered by a Porsche Macan EV drivetrain
Built by Porsche in collaboration with Frauscher Boats, the speedboat is 8.67 meters long (28.4 feet) and it looks the part.
The exterior is finished in white, apart from all the elements in nautical-grade teak wood.
Porsche’s influence is clear when you take a look at the cabin, with the 15-inch infotainment screen and Porsche steering wheel that look like they both came straight from the interior of a Macan.
Speaking of which, what’s really fascinating is this yacht uses a slightly modified version of the same drivetrain that powers the Porsche Macan EV.
It puts 400kW, equivalent to around 536 horsepower, and gives the boat a cruise speed of 45km/h – or 24 nautical mile/hour.
It’s also worth noting that the boat ‘only’ weighs 2,800kg – or 6,170lbs.
It’s a lot, but it means the 850 Fantom Air is still lighter than a Cybertruck.
The price tag isn’t for the faint of heart.
The boat costs $600,000.
When automakers make boats
This is becoming a bit of a recurring trend.
The Lamborghini 63 is perhaps the most famous boat made by a car company, but there’s more.
Brabus, for example, has created more than one.
Among others, they’ve got the Shadow 900 and the Stealth Green Edition.
Ironically, these boats, while not cheap, are often less expensive than equivalent supercars.
The Porsche boat is a case in point.
It costs $600,000, which is a lot of cash, but these days that’s no longer enough to buy elite supercars.
