Couple lives on board cruise ship

This couple is ditching land in favor of a life as seafaring nomads.

Angelyn and Richard Burk are in their 50s and plan to dedicate their lives to travel now they’re both retired.

Not only are they making that happen, but they’re doing it for less than it would cost them to pay off their mortgage.

The Burks have always loved cruising but they could only ever justify it on special occasions.

That was until they decided to make a drastic change.

Both Angelyn and Richard retired from their long-held jobs and put their Seattle home on the market

And with that, they waved goodbye to their normal lives and began their glitzy new life on the open water.

With the money they made on the sale of their home, together with their would-be mortgage repayments, the couple realized they could live this way for the rest of their lives.

After crunching the numbers, they actually realized they could hop from cruise to cruise for as little as $40 a day, including accommodation, food, drinks, and transport.

“We love to travel and we were searching for a way to continuously travel in our retirement that made financial sense,” Angelyn told 7Life.

“We have been frugal all our lives to save and invest in order to achieve our goal,” she says.

“We are not into materialistic things but experiences.”

She said she and Richard never wanted to live on land again.

Instead, they planned to visit every corner of the globe.

She said life on a cruise ship was leisurely travel without any of the complications that came with regular travel.

Angelyn and Richard aren’t the only ones creating a new life for themselves on board cruise ships.

Not only does he get to travel the world, but he says it’s actually cheaper than renting a place on land.
