Tesla CEO Elon Musk is keen to support great new ideas and talent – and this man who built a working Cybertruck out of wood for $15,000 is one such example.
The process took him 100 days.
But with the backing of the US-based company’s founder – it was time well spent.

The response from Elon Musk
ND Woodworking Art was already an icon of the wooden car-making game – but Elon Musk putting his project in the spotlight has allowed his content to reach even further.
He posted an open letter to Elon Musk on X reading: “I am a passionate content creator with a deep love for wooden vehicles and a tremendous admiration for both you and Tesla.
“Over the years, I’ve embarked on several wooden car projects to gain valuable experience.
“And today I launched a car that I am very impressed with, the Cybertruck.
“It is also the car that many of my audiences love and want me to build.”
He continued: “I am aware that Tesla has faced its share of challenges in bringing the Cybertruck to fruition.
“However, I maintain unwavering faith in your vision and the capabilities of Tesla.
“I am confident that this extraordinary vehicle will ultimately succeed.”
Elon Musk himself replied to the carefully written request for a repost.
“Sure, much appreciated,” he said in a characteristically brief response.
The payoff
In the eight months since the video was posted, it has amassed a huge 4.1 million views and the channel’s subscriber numbers have leaped to 2.98 million.
He had previously built his son a Ferrari GTO 250 and a tank that shoots.
He also once made a huge wooden train for the children of his village to enjoy.
After receiving a ton of requests from his subscribers, ND Woodworking Art took on the Cybertruck.
He welded a metal chassis and then constructed the entire body using wood.
Everything from the seats to the steering wheel was also wooden.
He added a few modern extras to give it that quintessential Cybertruck look, like LED headlights, a display screen, and that infamous huge wiper.
The truckbed has a functioning ramp, varnished in a deeper hue.
In addition to Elon Musk, the woodworker’s followers have also been vocal in their support for his unique projects.
“As a mechanical engineer, I have to say I’m impressed he got the pieces to fit together so beautifully. I respect the insane amount of work he put into functional dimensioning to make that look easy,” said one.
A second agreed: “That result is bad-ass. This has to be one of the best looking Cybertruck to ever hit the roads and I’d love for it to be prominently featured at Tesla’s HQ.”
“Loved it! Elon should reward him with a real Cybertruck!” said a third.
