This YouTuber spent 15 hours on the world’s longest Boeing 747 flight and shared his experience online.
Noel Philips was flying from Shenyang, China, to New York.
It would be a meaningful trip, as it’d be his first time entering the US as a legal permanent resident.
But what sort of shape would he be in by the time he made it to JFK Airport?

What happened when this man flew for 15 hours on the world’s longest Boeing 747 flight
Starting in Shenyang, Philips flew over to Beijing, where he was to catch his long-haul Air China Boeing 747-8 flight back to New York City.
Because the flight had to avoid Russian airspace, it was a much longer route than it had been historically.
It would go over Japan, Alaska, Canada, and then down to New York.

Fortunately, he was in business class, so that softened the blow of a 15-hour flight.
However, he did have some issues with his accommodation, namely the layout – no doors left him feeling like he was ‘sleeping in a hallway’.
But the seat allowed him to lie down flat, and that’s the important thing.
You can imagine how stiff your back would be after sleeping upright.
Now it was time for takeoff.

“Unfortunately, my excitement [at taking off] was tampered slightly, as the cabin crew decided to leave the lights in the cabin on full bright mode for the entire takeoff,” Philips lamented.
“So you couldn’t see a thing outside the window.
“In over 1,500 flights, this is the first time I’ve ever taken a cabin flight with the lights so bright.”
He got some shuteye and woke up as the plane was entering American airspace over Alaska.

Even though the cabin crew’s English was limited, Philips praised their service.
And of course, there was a meal mid-flight, which Philips enjoyed.
Landing in New York City
As the plane drew nearer to the Big Apple, the crew turned on celebratory cabin lighting that resembled a disco.
“After such a long flight, I was just grateful to be home,” Philips said.
Notwithstanding the journey he had to make to Houston, he was back.

Now that he was back in the States, he could get back to his day-to-day life.
Which, as it turns out, involves a lot of planes.
After all, this is the same man who spent $1,500 to ride in a historic Boeing B-29 Superfortress, fulfilling a lifelong dream.
He’s also traveled on the oldest Boeing 737, an experience he hoped to replicate in other countries that still have the mostly retired plane.
And we certainly can’t forget the time he flew from Los Angeles to Boston using only Essential Air Service, and it didn’t go to plan.
