The 2027 Chevy Bolt is back from the dead, and it’s reclaiming its crown as America’s most affordable EV.
After being discontinued in 2023, the Bolt has been revived in a ‘limited run’ with a starting price of $29,990.
A second, even cheaper model will follow later in 2026 at $28,995, undercutting nearly every rival in the market.
Still, Chevrolet admits this comeback may be brief, hinting that this new Bolt could be a temporary bridge between eras.

Improved charging for the 2027 Chevy Bolt
At first glance, the 2027 Chevy Bolt looks familiar, and that’s because it is.
Chevy essentially took the old Bolt EUV, upgraded its guts, and gave it a modern twist.
Underneath the skin lies a new 65-kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, chosen for its lower cost, longer lifespan, and improved safety compared to lithium-ion packs.
Despite the chemistry swap, range holds steady at a respectable 255 miles, just eight miles more than the outgoing Bolt EUV.

Charging is where the new Bolt really surprises.
It supports up to 150 kW DC fast charging, which might sound modest.
But thanks to an improved charging curve, Chevy says it can jump from 10 to 80 percent in just 26 minutes, which is less than half the time it took before.
Even better, it’s the first Chevrolet to feature a NACS port, granting access to Tesla’s Supercharger network without adapters.
Performance remains sensible rather than sporty.

Power rises slightly to 210 horsepower, but torque drops to 169 lb-ft, meaning 0–60 mph now takes just over seven seconds.
If you’re looking to drag race your EV, consider getting yourself a Tesla Model 3 instead.
Still, for daily commuting, the Bolt remains quick enough.
It is also pretty efficient, thanks to a standard heat pump, smart regenerative braking, and bidirectional charging that can even power a home.
America’s most affordable EV doesn’t skimp on features
Inside, the Bolt finally feels like a modern EV.
There’s a reconfigurable 11.0-inch driver display, an 11.3-inch infotainment screen with Google Built-In, and physical buttons for climate control.

Super Cruise, GM’s hands-free driving tech, returns as an option, and integrates neatly with Google Maps.
With features like a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera, the 2027 Chevy Bolt feels quite premium, considering it’s America’s most affordable EV.
With the car already spotted out in public, it shouldn’t be too long before America’s most affordable EV hits the market.
