This car enthusiast couldn’t believe it when he found a $250,000 Bentley GT in a junkyard auction, but a background check made things a bit clearer.

Bentley is a brand synonymous with class and sophistication.

The British designer oozes finesse, with its flasgship Mulliner and Continental models being fit for royalty.

So it comes as quite a shock when one turns up at a junkyard auction worth just a fraction of its original quarter-of-a-mil price tag.

Junkyard Bentley GT shocks YouTuber after hiding salty past

Junkyards are often filled with old American bangers, like this 15-acre plot in South Dakota that houses over 100 motors dating back to the 1920s.

But every now and again a Junkyard will spit out a supercar that can take your breath away, albeit looking a bit worse for wear.

This time, YouTuber ‘Samcrac‘ found a Bentley GT in a random yard, and was instantly taken aback.

The car clearly had some run-ins with water, with its very low suspension being the major giveaway before more damage became visible to aesthetic interior parts like the speaker and carpets.

But having become skeptical at this car’s state, the YouTuber did a background check and found that it was written down as a ‘salvage’ back in 2022.

The car was sold a year prior for $55,000 and its condition was completely abhorrent, as it was revealed that mucky salt water had submerged the Bentley GT up to its roof.

So, why was it back on auction?

Well, one person bought the car and gave it a ‘phenomenal’ clean, scrubbing up the interior to look almost brand new and removing most of the visible water damage lines.

After its bath, the car was re-listed at the same auction junkyard for $65,500 – a quick $10k profit for nothing more than a bit of elbow grease.

That’s one heck of a detailing flip.

The YouTuber warned everyone to do background checks on cars before buying them at auction.

It’s quite a fall from grace for a car whose production line brothers and sisters are serving as the royal transportation for figures like the Sultan of Brunei.
