This American YouTuber is working to transform his base model truck into a $50k 4×4 using only cheap parts from China.

Samcrac bought a 2020 Ram for $20,000, with intentions to make it look like a $50,000 truck.

With ‘very low expectations’, he set about ordering cheap parts from China to get started on customizing his vehicle.

But would he be taken by surprise by what he’d ordered?

Samcrac was a man with a mission – to give this Ram truck a makeover.

The first order of business was to place in some seat coverings, personally tailored for the truck.

Sam’s initial skepticism about the coverings dissipated quickly once he got it out of the bag.

The thin layer of foam was accompanied by some Velcro, giving some reassurance that it wouldn’t slide around on the seats.

This was all in a bid to save money – after all, factory leather seat sets would have cost well over $1,000.

The fit isn’t flawless, with air pockets appearing, it still looks good for $150.

It’s good value for money for sure.

This isn’t the first time that Sam has tried out a purchase from China on a car.

You may recall that he made use of a $150 machine bought from Chinese Marketplace, which was meant to erase dents from cars.

Unfortunately, in that case, things didn’t quite pan out that way.

The many car projects of Samcrac

If there’s one thing you can count on Samcrac for, it’s fixing cars on a budget.

He took on a factory reject Tesla with a huge discount in what was a big gamble, in addition to a flooded Aston Martin DBS.

It’s not the only flood-damaged car he’s taken on before – a totaled Bentley Continental GT also got his attention, although he managed to fix it for $330.

There’s still work left to do on the Ram makeover, but that will have to wait until future videos.
