There have been some remarkable stories over the past 12 months, particularly in the world of airplanes.

Some of them are old stories reemerging to a whole new audience, and others have shown us that aircraft like Concorde still have a place in our hearts.

Whatever the story, this past year has given us plenty to talk about when it comes to airplanes.

Here’s some of the best stories from the aviation world that we covered in 2025.

A Concorde moving across Heathrow was one of the best stories of 2025

One of the best stories was that of a British Airways Concorde being moved across Heathrow Airport.

Concorde G-BOAB has been cared for and owned by British Airways since the airliner retired from service in 2003.

It has had a low-key life, but it recently made an appearance at night as it moved across the airport.

Concorde G-BOAB never returned to flight after Concorde’s upgrades and refits following the Paris crash in 2000.

But it was used as a testbed for the Concorde refit, and has stayed at Heathrow ever since.

It’s been lovingly looked after and shown off at BA staff and family days at the airport.

In May 2025, it moved across the taxiway once more, ready for display at one of the events.

An Airbus A380 pulling off an amazing maneuver

Another great story was that of an Airbus A380 pilot on his final flight.

The Lufthansa pilot was at the controls of the giant airliner on his final flight before retirement.

There is a bit of a tradition where on their last flights, the pilots will perform a wing-rock maneuver.

That is what this pilot did, as he banked hard to the right and then back to the left as he took off.

While it might look alarming for the passengers, the reality is that they were likely told about this beforehand.

Otherwise, they’d have had quite the shock as their aircraft suddenly banked hard to the right, then the left!

It did, however, produce some spectacular footage, especially given the size of the A380.

Big aircraft are something we love at Supercar Blondie, so this video is one of our favorites of 2025 – check it out here.

An airplane boneyard from the 1990s

Airplane boneyards are always fascinating, but one really took our breath away this past year.

It was highlighted by a North Carolina teen, with aircraft from Boeing, Airbus, and McDonnell Douglas.

The YouTuber said that the most recent of the aircraft arrived in 2017.

Several examples of the Boeing 747 were at the boneyard, with one adorned in a faded livery from Northwest Airlines.

Eight aircraft were parked at the site, with others including a Boeing 737-200 and an Airbus A300.

A particular highlight was a Boeing 727, one of just two Northwest Airlines 727s remaining in the world.

Even when they’ve long been retired, it seems airplanes can spring up a few surprises.

So those are some of the best stories of 2025 from the airplane world.

Merry Christmas aviation fans!
