When this pilot took a Boeing CH-47 Chinook in for a landing, he gave it some flourish and pulled off an incredible wheelie landing.

Usually, you’d associate a wheelie with a bike – and even then, it’s a risky move if you don’t know what you’re doing.

So to see a helicopter pulling off this sort of stunt is pretty extraordinary.

And as if that weren’t enough, a member of the crew hung out the side door for extra effect.

This is what happened when a CH-47 Chinook did a wheelie

This video was shared to YouTube channel Topfelya, who upload aviation footage – as you might have ascertained from the channel’s name.

You might recall that they filmed the moment this Airbus A380 glided just above houses in a display that would put many people on edge.

And then there was this mic-drop moment with a Boeing 737 MAX coming in for landing on a wet runway.

This video was no different in terms of thrill factor.

Where else are you going to see a CH-47 Chinook – which looks like it means business – doing a wheelie?

This footage was captured at the Dunsfold Wings and Wheels event back in 2018.

Instead of approaching the ground level, the pilot headed for the ground at an angle.

And the incredible part is that the pilot was able to stick the landing on just two wheels.

The result is that the CH-47 Chinook actually ended up performing a wheelie during the landing.

Some may say this was showboating, but really, it was the ultimate display of skill.

When not doing wheelies, what does this helicopter do?

If you think this looks like it belongs in a military movie, you’d be right on the money.

After being introduced in 1962, the CH-47 Chinook became an invaluable part of military operations, transporting troops, ammunition, and humanitarian supplies into hard-to-reach regions.

Capable of carrying up to 55 troops and more than ten tonnes of cargo, this helicopter is an indomitable force.

Today, the Chinook CH-47 is still operated by the militaries of the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Saudi Arabia.
