This British YouTuber splashed out $1.2 million on a Middle Eastern prince’s broken Bugatti Veyron, which may come with a royal-sized repair bill of $600,000.
Mark McCann is no stranger to expensive car purchases.
But this Bugatti Veyron may be on the upper end of fancy, even by his lofty standards.
However, that doesn’t mean it’ll come without any strings attached – how does a repair bill of $600,000 sound?

Why this Bugatti Veyron came with such a hefty repair bill?
McCann is the man who has a $13 million car collection – he knows how expensive cars can prove to be.
And that’s not forgetting some of the new cars that he’s accumulated along the way, like this $1.6m McLaren P1.

But when it came to this Bugatti Veyron, things were far from straightforward.
The truth is, this car did not come to McCann in one piece.
It’d been disassembled across two separate garages for a few years now, and nobody had put it back together.
Starting life as a standard Veyron, it was later transformed into a Pur Sang model at some point around 2008 to the tune of $440,000.
That transformation included extensive Mansory carbon fiber additions.
But all of that impressive work doesn’t mean a whole lot when this car is in pieces and in desperate need of repair.
Let us count the ways this Veyron needs work.

It needs a complete gearbox replacement, it’s missing hardware, has damaged aluminum body panels, and the interior is deteriorating.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, some of the ‘carbon fiber’ is actually vinyl wrap – and poor condition vinyl wrap at that.
This project may be looking like a poisoned chalice, but could McCann work his magic and get it back on track?

Can this car be saved?
It was Furlongers, a specialist shop with an extensive history of working on Bugattis, that McCann entrusted with the repairs.
The gearbox repairs alone would be pricey, ranging anywhere from $315,000 to $375,000.
And in the dreaded scenario where a totally new gearbox is needed – in addition to all the other repairs – the total repair job could cost around $600,000.
At this point in time, there’s still a lot of unknown costs that will have to be confronted during the repair journey.
For the meantime, McCann is hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
