Even though he runs both Rimac and Bugatti, Mate Rimac comes across as a very down to earth, relatable guy.
He’s also clearly a car nut.
His car collection is incredible, and it includes vehicles only proper petrolheads would drive.
But what’s truly interesting is his take on supercar owners and supercar use.

Why Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac believes all cars should be driven
In a clip he shared on his personal Instagram account not long ago, Mate explained how and why he regularly uses his $2.2 million Rimac Nevera as often as he can.
Technically that’s his company car, but it is also a very expensive and sophisticated hypercar.
Even so, Mate said he tends to use it for everything, including for running errands.

Believe it or not he even uses it to drive to the airport. And therefore leaves it there, when he has to travel.
This would give any regular supercar owner a heart attack, probably.
Even though Mate is presumably well aware that the average Rimac and Bugatti owners buy those cars as assets, not a means of transport, he maintains that all cars should be driven. Because, after all, you only live once.
Well, he isn’t wrong there, is he?

Inside Mate Rimac’s car collection
Mate owns a variety of rare and exotic supercars, not just from Rimac. But he also has a thing for vintage BMWs.
He owns a BMW M3 which he drives quite often, and an E39 BMW M5, which he drives even more frequently.
Mate still believes internal combustion engines are here to stay, which is why he gave the new Bugatti Tourbillon a brand-new V16 engine.
He also hinted that Rimac might eventually transition from an EV-only brand to a hybrid brand, which is even more incredible.
But we won’t hold our breath on that front.
