A Chevrolet Corvette owner humiliated a Honda Civic driver during a Texas drag race dramatically.

Drag races are some of the best ways in which you can prove how fast a particular car is against another, with a straight blast down the quarter-mile.

An Instagram video from Corvette Club showcased an amazing drag race between a Corvette and a Honda Civic, with the Japanese car badly humiliated.

Rather than simply blasting down the drag strip, though, the Corvette pulled a neat trick to make the race fairer… only to still embarrass the Honda.

How did the Corvette owner embarrass the Honda Civic?

At the beginning of the race, it looked like nothing was out of the ordinary.

The two cars lined up at the start line, ready to blast down the quarter-mile like these pickups did.

When both pilots put their foot down, the American sports car did something remarkable.

At the 60ft marker, the American sports car suddenly pulled out its parachute.

The video doesn’t indicate whether it was an accident by the Chevrolet Corvette driver or a deliberate act.

Nor does it say if it was to make the race fairer, or just to toy with the Civic.

However, the car still maintained the lead and won the race despite having its parachute deployed.

That is one way to humiliate your opponent!

What parachutes are used for in drag racers

Normally, you would not expect a parachute to be deployed that early in a drag race.

As with landing aircraft, the parachute is deployed to increase drag and slow the car down.

This typically happens at the end of the run.

Even with that increased drag, this sports car was still able to easily keep its rival in check and win the race.

The video made no mention of engines, power figures, or anything else about the two cars.

But we can assume that, being drag racers, and just by looking at them, that they are highly modified.

Whatever power the Civic had, it was clearly no match for its American rival.

To be able to outdrag another modified car with the parachute deployed is one amazing achievement.
