This guy managed to spot Cristiano Ronaldo’s jet at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport in Funchal, the capital of Madeira in Portugal.

Sadly, they didn’t spot the Al-Nassr footballer.

However, despite no star being spotted – the jet itself was unmistakable.

This is further proof of something we’ve known about aviation for a while.

Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t there, but the jet is unmistakable

An Instagram creator who goes by ‘bantersuperleague‘ spotted Cristiano Ronaldo’s plane at Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport in Portugal.

How fitting.

He didn’t actually see the soccer star – we have no way of knowing whether he’d already disembarked or was inside waiting for the plane to take off – but the aircraft is absolutely unmistakable.

Painted black with gold and silver accents, the plane also sports Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siuuuu’ goal-celebration silhouette next to the door, along with the lettering ‘CR7’.

The plane is a Gulfstream G650, one of the best-selling private jets in the world.

The large business jet has two Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, which can propel it to a top speed of 611mph.

So the G650 is fast, but it is also practical.

There is seating for up to 19 people on the jet and sleeping space for 10 of those traveling on it.

More than enough for Cristiano, Georgina, and their five children.

Ironically, spotting a celebrity plane is easier than spotting the actual star in it

In general, celebrities don’t really fly commercial.

It’s like a catch-22: celebrities who are so famous everyone potentially recognizes them always fly private, and celebrities that are not that famous may fly commercial, but you’re unlikely to recognize them out of context in real life rather than through a screen.

But, from John Doe to Cristiano Ronaldo – we all use the same tarmac.

This is especially true in cities that only have one or two airports.

Like Funchal, for example.

This is the capital of Madeira, the small autonomous region of Portugal, where Cristiano Ronaldo was born.

Funchal only has one major airport, which is how this Instagram creator ended up sharing the same runway with Cristiano Ronaldo.

People like Ronaldo have staff waiting for them wherever they go, so the chances of actually spotting them at an airport are slim to none.

But in the heavily regulated and standardized world of aviation, you can ‘hide’ the celebrity, but you can’t hide the plane.
