Czinger hypercar smashes production car record in California, beating the Koenigsegg Jesko

This Czinger hypercar has smashed a production car record previously set by the Koenigsegg Jesko.
For years, the 21C hypercar has gone through different variations to be shown off at Monterey.
Now it’s gone one step further and has set a lap record at Laguna Seca.
This is a seriously impressive achievement, and you’ll be stunned when you learn how close it ran to the Koenigsegg Jesko, the former record-holder.

This Czinger hypercar set a lap record, beating out the Koenigsegg Jesko
Last week, the Czinger 21C did a lap at the iconic Laguna Seca track in Monterey County, California.
The lap time? 1:22.30.
And get this – it beat out the Koenigsegg Jesko by a mere two seconds.
It’s a close win, but a win nonetheless.
So what is there to know about this new record holder?
Powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine paired with electric motors, the Czinger 21C produces 1,250 horsepower.
Joel Miller was behind the wheel when it took on the 2.238-mile track, and this wasn’t his first time behind the wheel.
He’d previously set lap records at Thunderhill Raceway Park, Sonoma Raceway, Willow Springs Raceway, and the Thermal Club on a tour of Californian race tracks.
There’s definitely a bit of tit-for-tat going on here, as the 21C had previously set a production car lap record at Laguna Seca.
But that time – 1:24.39 – was outdone by the Jesko, which clocked in at 1:24.16.
So, like all great rivalries, these two are pretty close to being evenly matched.

The car caused a lot of buzz recently when it was spotted being refueled in Miami.
This was far from the only time it’d been spotted out and about – it was once seen in Yosemite Park and made its way onto Reddit in that case.
Only 80 units of the 21C are available, so sightings of them are as about as infrequent as you’d imagine.

February 2020: Czinger release the first teaser videos for the 21C.
March 2020: The grand reveal at the Geneva Motor Show is delayed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. It was instead revealed at a private event in London.
June 2021: The full production-spec 21C is revealed, with a more refined design compared to the 2020 model.
August 2021: Sets its first major benchmark, breaking a production car lap record at Laguna Seca, beating out the McLaren Senna.
