What did this YouTuber recommend drivers do when their EV battery dies?
This isn’t the first time that Chargeheads has spoken out about EVs.
As the channel’s name suggests, electric car content is its bread and butter.

The channel’s host has previously spoken out about how much it cost him to get his Tesla Model 3 up from 57,000 to 100,000 miles.
He also profiled somebody who made the switch to a Model 3 after being anti-EV for years.
This time around, he was dishing out some advice about a common anxiety that EV drivers have – ‘What if my battery dies?’
In that situation, what should someone do?
For the Chargeheads host, the answer was clear – get a battery swap.
“This isn’t a new battery. It’s a second-life battery which will probably have around 90 percent range,” he explained.

“I would still expect that to last between 150,000 and 200,000 miles.”
How much would it cost for someone to do this?
On average, he estimated it’d cost somewhere between $13,500 and $14,800, but it could vary depending on the model of the Tesla.
And there are cheaper options out there, as he’s seen Model 3 batteries going for around $4,000 on eBay.

How much would it cost to get a battery swap done at the auto shop?
Out of curiosity, he called around different mechanics to hear what prices were on offer for a battery swap.
“The prices do vary a bit…it’s dependent on how long it takes to set it up on the system,” he explained.
Specialist equipment like Tesla Toolbox is needed, which can add to the overall swap cost.
In the end, Chargeheads invited viewers to comment about their own battery swap experiences.
Ultimately, everyone is going to have some variation in their experiences.
