This expert was baffled while searching a home when he came across a Ferrari 275 GTB/2 and a Shelby Cobra 427 in an abandoned underground garage.

Ben Cotter, the host of the YouTube series Barn Find Hunter, had been called out to a deserted building to help find a new home for some unused vehicles.

Whatever he was expecting, it certainly wasn’t this – two of the greatest supercars of their era.

But having gone untouched for 27 years, what sort of condition would they be in?

This Ferrari 275 GTB/2 and Shelby Cobra 427 had been abandoned for 27 years

Inside the garage of this abandoned property was a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/2 and a 1967 Shelby Cobra 427, both regarded as the top supercars of their era.

According to a friend of the garage’s owner, neither one had been touched in the 27 years since their regular mechanic passed away.

When you hear something like that, your mind goes to the worst-case scenario, right?

You might be reminded of this Nova Kit car that had been dealt a bad hand by Father Time after 30 years of disuse.

But abandoned cars aren’t always in bad shape – as this Corvette C4 abandoned for 30 years demonstrated.

Fortunately, the Ford 275 GTB/2 and the Shelby Cobra 427 were in the latter camp, as they didn’t look too shabby at all.

Sure, they were dusty, but that’s nothing really.

They’re not riddled with rust and crumbling to dust like this Carlton Carrera.

Both cars are rare, and better yet, they have very low mileage.

They were estimated to be worth a combined $3.75 million.

Abandoned cars – a diamond in the rough, or a disaster waiting to happen?

With these types of car discoveries, things can go one of two ways.

There’s every chance a car will have held up remarkably well, considering how long it’s gone unused for – like this Plymouth Fury that had been parked up for decades.

But it really is a luck of the draw, as you never know what car you’re going to be landed with if you pick them up in barn finds or old garages.

This 1964 Chevy Impala SS had a ton of problems, including holes in the floor and general filth.

But it was a potentially dangerous puzzle sitting inside that was the major cause for concern.
