A Ferrari 296 has just gone wheel to wheel in a race against the most powerful machine in go-karting, but the dubious result has left some fans skeptical.
Go-Karting, for a lot of people, starts and ends with high-school trips or team-bonding exercises with colleagues.
But the nippy vehicles can actually be unlocked in a Mario-like fashion, just without the rainbow road.
Not only can they hit over 100km/h, they’re now taking on supercars in drag races and leaving many in the dust.

Maybe the legend ‘the best things come in small packages’ applies to cars too.
We recently saw an RC car give a Rimac Nevera a run for its money.
Now, it’s the Karting machines that are making supercars blush.
In a TikTok series by Karting Club Vendrell, the team has been putting its signature kart against a range of supercars, including a BMW M3 CS, a Lamborghini, and a Ferrari 296 GTB.

The latest instalment of the series saw the KZ Kart take on the Ferrari 296, and while you might think that this might be an easy win for the supercar, the short distance proved to play into the Kart’s hands.
The KZ Kart has a 50 horsepower engine, a top speed of 96mph, and hits 60 after 9 seconds. Still, you’d think that was no issue for the nippy Ferrari.
Wrong.
The race, which lasts just seconds, saw the KZ Kart have much better acceleration than the 296 and zip through the cones in first place.

However, some people have called foul play.
Many commenters claim that the Ferrari wasn’t using its launch mode, given that it actually reaches 0-60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.
The Ferrari 296 might also not be the optimal supercar for this type of race – maybe the Rimac Nevera or even a Tesla Model S Plaid would be best suited with its motor-powered start.
Go Karts are getting quicker though – a recent record was shattered as a production vehicle finally passed the 100mph mark to become the fastest yet.
And, if you’re Zak Brown, it’s only a short step from mastering karting to becoming a Formula 1-winning CEO.
