Ferrari's first EV is officially coming in 2025 and it's been spotted testing in public for the first time

After a spectacular 2024 for the company, Ferrari’s first EV will be released this year.

The announcement comes with the promise that the EV will be part of a group of six new cars released in 2025.

The new EV has now been seen testing on the roads too.

With public reaction mixed, some eagle-eyed fans have even compared the test car to another popular supercar.

Ferrari’s first EV

The sound of thousands of heartbeat’s quickening accompanied Ferrari’s announcement that after a fantastic year for the brand in 2024, it would be releasing six new cars in 2025.

One of those would be the brand’s first EV, which Ferrari said would hit the road in October.

While most people believe that the EV was a long time coming, some diehard fans were worried that it wouldn’t match up to the rest of the brand’s lineup.

During his interview with CNBC, the company’s CEO Benedetto Vigna wanted to assure fans that the electric Ferrari would be as fun and exciting as the others.

“People buy a Ferrari because when they buy a Ferrari, they have a lot of fun,” he said.

He also went on to say the electric Ferrari would be created ‘the right way’ for the brand.

Catching a sneak peek

A heavily camouflaged test car has been seen out and about on the roads.

A video from Varryx on Instagram has given us a great close-up view of the car.

The video has also sparked debate about the car’s shape being reminiscent of a Maserati.

One viewer compared it to the Maserati Levante, while another said they were certain it was in fact a Maserati not a Ferrari.

“This is a Maserati. You can tell,” they said.

It also seems that Ferrari is artificially recreating the iconic ‘roar’ of the car’s exhaust using a soundbar to try and best mimic it, but people aren’t loving it.

One commenter said on a post about the car ‘Please god if you are listening, don’t release this’ with another saying ‘No Ferrari person wants that. At all’.

We will be sure to keep our eyes (and ears) peeled for more information about this car and its soundbar, but at the moment it looks like it’s launching to a very lukewarm reception.

It’ll be interesting to see what people think when it actually hits the road.
