A Florida YouTuber who snapped up the ‘cheapest Cessna 421 in America’ discovered why it was such a bargain buy after it left him stranded.

Most of us can only dream of owning a private plane one day.

But that dream became reality for YouTuber Jimmy’s World when he managed to get his hands on the ‘cheapest’ Cessna 421 he could find.

But, as you might expect, it came with some issues.

The ‘cheapest Cessna 421’ came with a few issues

Jimmy Webb, who runs the Jimmy’s World YouTube channel, has a fair bit of experience when it comes to rescuing old planes.

He previously got his hands on a private jet that once belonged to Elvis Presley and spent months converting it into a unique RV

More recently, he bought ‘the cheapest Cessna 421 in America’.

In a clip uploaded last September, Jimmy explained that he was going to use the 421 to go and pick up some avionics and a harness for a Cessna 120 he was working on.

His plan was to jump into the plane and fly out to his friend Sparky, who had the items he needed, but before setting off, Jimmy revealed that it had some autopilot issues.

Despite this, the plane managed to make it all the way to Sparky’s, but that’s when things took a turn for the worse.

After safely landing, the Cessna 421 then promptly stopped working altogether.

“Uh the bad news is 421 broke,” Jimmy said. “Did I mention this was the cheapest 421?”

After taking a closer look at the plane, Jimmy determined that the propeller had feathered due to oil pressure loss, which meant that the poor old Cessna would no longer fly, and the YouTuber was stranded.

So, what became of the stuck plane?

While Jimmy was able to identify the problem pretty quickly, resolving it wouldn’t be quite so simple.

He initially found someone nearby who he thought might be able to help, but despite their best efforts, the plane remained grounded.

So, he removed the busted propeller and headed out to Aircraft Propeller Works where the team ‘performed a miracle’.

The team found some broken locking pins, removed them and replaced them with some new parts.

With that done, Jimmy was able to take the Cessna back out for a test flight and found that it ran perfectly.
