The Ford Bronco Raptor may already be one of the wildest off-roaders money can buy, but Ford CEO Jim Farley wants to outdo it with a crazy off-road supercar.

In fact, he’s floating the idea of a $300,000 off-roader packing 1,000hp.

This is something that could rival Dakar rally machines, and make today’s off-road toys look tame.

It’s the kind of idea that sounds bonkers on paper, but the Blue Oval’s track record with halo cars like the Mustang GTD suggests it might not be so far-fetched.

There is a market for an off-road supercar

Ford CEO Jim Farley is known for his outspoken views in the automotive industry.

Whether it is his opinion on Tesla’s approach to self-driving, or admitting that Chinese EVs might be way better than he originally thought, the man is not shy about sharing his thoughts.

Farley revealed his off-road supercar idea on Bloomberg’s Hot Pursuit! podcast.

There, he made a bold claim that ‘there’s no Porsche off-road, and I’m shocked people don’t think about that.’

While Porsche’s own 911 Dakar might raise an eyebrow at that statement, along with Lamborghini’s Huracán Sterrato, Farley dismissed them as not truly up to the task of surviving brutal events like the Baja 500.

His vision is less about a lifted sports car and more about an all-out, motorsport-bred machine that thrives in the dirt.

According to Farley, the dream vehicle would deliver 1,000hp with a partially electric drivetrain.

Unlike traditional off-road rigs, it wouldn’t be a pickup truck but a fully adjustable supercar with tunable suspension, damping, and ride height.

Farley even admitted he hasn’t decided whether it should be a two-seater or a four-seater, showing how early the idea still is.

Ford CEO Jim Farley wants to shake things up

If it sounds outrageous, that’s the point.

Farley argued that modern supercars have too much sameness, and a Dakar-inspired Ford could shake things up.

He’s also hinted that whenever he starts ‘thinking really deeply’ about an idea, it often turns into something real, so fans of off-road insanity should keep an eye out.

Of course, the brand has history here.

The company sells everything from affordable daily drivers to $120,000 F-150 Raptor R models, so this outlandish idea isn’t entirely impossible.

Its halo cars, like the Ford GT and Mustang GTD, also prove that customers are willing to pay top dollar for limited-production machines.

Ford CEO Jim Farley was quick to add that the company doesn’t want ‘posers’ collecting dust in garages, as he believes that special models should be bought, driven, and loved, not flipped.

Whether or not this wild off-road supercar makes it past the sketchpad, the fact that Ford is even considering it is a thrill in itself.

If the Bronco Raptor is already a beast, imagine what a 1,000hp of dirt-eating monster could do.
