Although best known for its cars and motorcycles, Japanese-based Honda is a big name in aviation with its HondaJet Elite II private jets selling for millions of dollars.

The Honda Motor Company was founded all the way back in 1946 and is the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles.

It’s also the largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines, pushing out more than 14 million each year.

Alongside all of that, Honda is also in the aviation industry – unveiling the HondaJet back in the late 1990s.

Honda has been in the aviation industry for years

When you think of Honda, you probably think of its most popular vehicles like the the Honda Accord, or the soon-to-return Honda Prelude

But in the late 1990s, Honda shared a concept for its first light jet – the HondaJet.

In 2015, the HondaJet received its FAA type certificate and the planes went into production.

Fast forward to 2018, and the HondaJet Elite was launched offering an expanded performance envelope, improved interior and updated flight deck.

The original HondaJet Elite had a range of 1,437 nautical miles (2,661km/1,654 miles) and enough room for six passengers.

It also came with a $5.75 million price tag.

Honda built on the success of its previous private planes with the HondaJet Elite II – launched in 2022.

This time around, the plane benefited from boosted aerodynamics, increased fuel capacity, and a range of 1,547 nautical miles (2,865 km/1,780 miles).

It also comes with redesigned interiors featuring improved acoustics to reduce sound and a spacious and bright cabin.

The cabin has two-toned leather seats set side-by-side and enough room for six passengers and two crew.

“Our approach to comfort is holistic, seeking to provide thoughtful solutions throughout the cabin that target multiple sensory and environmental elements to provide a new level of luxury and freedom,” Honda said.

The HondaJet Elite II can be ordered in a number of slick color schemes for the exterior, including Luxe Gold, Ruby Red, Ice Blue, and Black Sable, while the interiors can be kitted out in Onyx or Steel.

But all that luxury comes at a cost because the HondaJet Elite II has a base price of $6.95 million.
