One man in Dallas has saved himself from a huge kick in the bank, as a second quote for a Honda Odyssey repair was $6,875 apart.

Here’s why it’s always important to get more than one quote for a car repair.

In a viral TikTok, one man has revealed he was quoted two separate prices for an airbag repair in his Honda Odyssey, which were a whopping $6,850k different.

He was originally quoted $7k for what ended up being a $125 job.

Dallas man gets a fright with two wildly different Honda Odyssey repair quotes

Getting car repairs is a driver’s worst nightmare. They’re costly and usually of no fault to the owner.

In this particular case, Dallas man, Jonathan Morsinkhoff, feared the worst when a light went out on the dashboard of his 2020 Honda Odyssey, signaling a fault with the airbag.

Having slightly surpassed the 36,000-mile warranty mark, he worriedly dropped his car off at the Honda service department. He hoped he’d receive an affordable quote for fixing the issue.

So you can imagine his surprise when his phone lit up with a text from the dealership. The quote? That’ll be just shy of $7,000.

They claimed that the issue lay with a ‘deeply integrated’ airbag system wiring harness, and it would require ripping apart most of the front end before stitching it back up.

However, a quick phone call to a local mechanic and a two-hour trip revealed that the problem was actually just a loose connector under the driver’s seat, and that they could sort it out for $125.

And so they did.

Morsinkhoff explained the saga in a lengthy TikTok, where he asked:

“Why can’t people be honest?”

Drivers keep finding a way to save money on expensive repairs

This wouldn’t be the first time that a driver has managed to save a fortune on expensive repairs.

Especially when quoted directly from a dealership.

Although comparing a Honda Odyssey repair to that of a Bugatti is hardly the same, another man was able to fix his Veyron for just $10 after being quoted thousands by the French supercar manufacturer.

Still, this Honda was now back up and running for just over $100.

That’s why it’s always worth getting a second quote or opinion in any car-related query.
