A rare Ford model has been discovered in an Illinois junkyard and the salvage worker couldn’t believe his eyes.
The Auto Parts City worker stumbled across the car and took to TikTok to share the unusual find.
With its six-speed manual transmission and four-cylinder engine, he immediately realized the car was a bit of an oddity.
In fact, it’s led to people questioning how many of these vehicles were actually made.

Here’s what he discovered
Taking to the autopartscity TikTok page, the worker revealed the vehicle in all its glory as he expressed his surprise.
He said: “I just saw this Ford Fusion here, and the first thing I thought to myself is, ‘This car has to be incredibly, incredibly rare’.

“A Ford Fusion with a six-speed manual, how many of these did they make?” he asked.
As he explored the car further, he revealed more in-depth details about the engine and transmission.

“It’s not like it’s anything special or fast or a sport model,” he added. “It’s a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder.”
“I honestly wonder how many of these Ford actually produced, ‘cause I’ve never seen one before.”

But why is the six-speed Ford Fusion rare?
Well, it turns out that its production years were limited, so to find one now would be a very hard task.
The car’s journey into the automotive world began with the 2006 model.
It was described as a ‘mid-sized sedan’ with two main generations running from 2006-2012 and then 2013-2020.
Sadly, though, the Fusion has been discontinued, with Ford itself saying that it was proud of the ‘spirited, up-for-anything’ car.
As you can imagine, the discovery caused lots of commotion amongst gearheads online.
“The fusion with a 6-speed manual has under 200,000 units made,” commented one user.
“From what I can find a 2.5l with the manual was less than 2,000 made,” said another fan.
“I have the pre facelift of that fusion with the v6 and my god I wish 8 got a manual. the auto kinda sucks,” added a third.
Ford still has plenty of other rare (and more impressive) models on offer.
Take the 2006 GT Heritage Edition, or the Taunus XL fastback.
But, good luck finding a 2.5 liter, six-speed Fusion.
