Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have unveiled their new Tesla Cybertrucks at a brunch block party in Summerlin.

Earlier this year, the Las Vegas police force announced it was adding 10 Cybertrucks to its fleet.

Now, cops in Vegas have unveiled the LVMP-branded trucks and given members of the public a chance to get up close to the EVs.

Cops attended a brunch block party at Downtown Summerlin, where they showcased the latest additions to their fleet, including the new Tesla.

The Tesla Cybertrucks were bought following a generous donation

Back in February, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced it was set to have the largest fleet of Cybertrucks in the US

The department said it would be introducing 10 of the EVs, including a specially-fitted SWAT vehicle, to its fleet of cop cars.

Speaking to FOX5, Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the fleet of trucks hadn’t come out of the force’s budget.

“They came out of a very generation donation from an individual,” he told the outlet.

To get them ready for use, the Cybertrucks were handed over to Unplugged Performance, which was able to carry out a complete customization, including new electrics, prisoner partitions, push bars, and LVMPD livery.

On Sunday, November 16, members of the public were given the chance to take a closer look at the new Tesla Cybertruck at a brunch event at La Neta Cocina y Lounge in Downtown Summerlin.

The event gave folks the chance to meet first responders and check out public safety vehicles, including rescue trucks, fire trucks, and the Cybertrucks.

Sheriff McMahill has previously said the Cybertrucks would provide a great talking point in the community.

“Imagine when we’re out and we’re charging these things, and officers will be approached by people from all over the community to see this thing,” McMahil said back in February.

He went on to say the fleet of EVs will ‘increase community partnerships’ and work as a ‘tremendous recruitment tool’.

The force has said the trucks will ‘stop bullets’

Not only did the sheriff hail them as a top-notch recruitment tool, but he also pointed out the Cybertruck’s super tough exterior.

“I will tell you, we want these things because the cops inside will be safe no matter what,” Sheriff McMahill said.

“These stop bullets.”
