These guys figured out a way to travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco on a budget of $20 using two bikes: an electric motorcycle and a Honda Grom.
As it turns out, going from LA to SF on a budget of just $20 is doable, but there’s a catch.
Actually, more than one.
And that’s why the journey was not easy, or pleasant.

If you have to travel 500 miles on a budget of $20, that means you have to cover at least 25 miles for every dollar you spend.
That’s impossible in any car, and equally unimaginable using 99 percent of available motorcycles out there.
Amazingly, these guys managed to find two small bikes that could achieve the required fuel efficiency.
Zack and Ari, the hosts of the Rezvilla YouTube channel, set off from Los Angeles to San Francisco using two totally different bikes.

Zack chose the Honda Grom, a compact gas-powered bike, while Ari used a Zero S electric bike, a US-made motorcycle that costs a lot more than those tiny bikes you can get from Alibaba for as little as around $1,000.
That’s not the case with the Zero S, which has a starting price of $15k.
So the Zero S might be fuel efficient but it isn’t cheap.
And there were another three issues on top of that.

First, you can’t actually drive the Honda Grom on the highway, which means they had to use secondary roads.
This leads us to problem number two and number three, because these bikes are not comfortable, and they’re not fast.
The Grom (pictured above) is one of the smallest motorcycles available, just a tiny bit bigger than the ATC250R, and the ATC250R is a ‘minibike’, so you can imagine how tiny the Grom actually is.
The Zero S (below) is equally minute and (sort of) underpowered, with a seat height of just 787 mm (30 inches) and just 68 horsepower.

With time and presumably a lot of patience, both bikes managed to get to San Francisco from Los Angeles using less than $20 of fuel.
There’s also more good news for EV enthusiasts out there, because the Zero, the electric motorcycle, far outperformed the Honda in terms of efficiency.
Zack, the guy who chose the Honda, spent around $14 on fuel while Ari, the man who chose the electric motorcycle, spent just $8.
