A YouTuber hit up a Tesla meet in LA, packed with Cybertruck owners, and started asking them how much their monthly payments were for their trucks.

He also wanted to know how much they make to see what kind of people are really buying Tesla’s futuristic electric pickup.

The crowd included nurses, tech workers, and business owners, all with wildly different numbers.

And their answers revealed just how expensive owning a Cybertruck really is.

What kind of people are Tesla Cybertruck owners?

At a Tesla meetup in LA, most EV owners said their Cybertrucks cost between $100,000 and $110,000, with one even admitting to paying extra just to get his early.

Jim, who waited four and a half years for his order, dropped over $100,000 in cash to skip the line.

Another owner financed his truck for $107,000, paying around $1,000 per month after trading in his Tesla Model Y.

Then there’s Danny, a nurse practitioner who commutes long hours and relies on the iconic Tesla Autopilot.

His truck cost about $100,000 with a $10,000 down payment, leaving him with a $1,600 monthly bill.

“It drives like a Model 3,” he said, “just way bigger and with way more power.”

The income behind the Tesla steering wheel

Scott, who works in tech, called his purchase a ‘YOLO moment’ and joked that the Cybertruck ‘accelerates like a sports car but brakes like a truck.’

He didn’t share his monthly payment but admitted the decision was more about fun than practicality.

Jesse, a business owner who manufactures energy-efficient windows, put $35,000 down and pays $1,100 a month, and says he loves the smooth ride and isn’t too concerned about depreciation yet.

Even long-time Tesla drivers aren’t escaping big bills, like one Model 3 owner who said his old payment was $891 a month, and his new Tesla Model Y costs about $731 with a federal tax credit.

It seems that most Cybertruck drivers interviewed make anywhere from $120,000 to well over $200,000 a year, with many working in tech, healthcare, or running their own companies.

For them, the Cybertruck isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a statement.

As one owner put it:

“It’s ridiculous… but it’s ridiculously fun.”
