A Boeing 747-400 simulator in someone’s basement is turning heads online.

With working flight instruments, full-scale controls, and stunning visuals, the setup looks straight out of a commercial pilot training center.

It’s a fixed-base simulator built with remarkable attention to detail, mimicking the real cockpit of a jumbo jet.

For aviation enthusiasts, it’s the ultimate at-home experience.

The buzz started after a Reddit user shared a short video from a friend’s basement, showing the Boeing 747-400 simulator in action.

The clip features a simulated landing at the legendary Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong, using the famous IGS approach to Runway 13.

This particular landing is a classic challenge among flight sim pilots.

It requires a steep turn at low altitude over a dense cityscape, making precision critical.

The visuals, the cockpit environment, and the smooth handling left viewers amazed.

Many called it one of the most realistic home simulators they had ever seen.

Flight simulators have long been a passion for aviation fans, both for entertainment and education.

Programs like Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane, and Prepar3D allow users to virtually fly aircraft with real-world geography and weather conditions.

Some use them to practice procedures or challenge themselves with tricky landings, while others enjoy exploring the world from the cockpit.

It is also the only way to experience flying aircraft that are no longer in use, like the legendary Concorde.

Over time, many hobbyists upgrade from desktop setups to fully immersive home cockpits, like this man who built a Boeing 737-800 flight simulator in his garage.

While it’s unclear which exact simulator this is, a Reddit user pointed out that it looks similar to one produced by Flightdeck Solutions.

The company’s Boeing 747-400 simulator is a full-scale representation of the aircraft’s flight deck layout, and even has proprietary crew seats.

Suffice to say, it will probably cost you a small fortune, although it’s debatable whether it’s as expensive as rebuilding your own cockpit out of an actual aircraft.
