The ‘world’s ugliest airplane’ might not exist in real life, but one man brought it to life inside a flight simulator just to see how ridiculous it could get.
The experiment came from aviation YouTuber Swiss001, who decided to recreate one of the strangest aircraft ever designed.
His homemade add-on was inspired by the real-life Stratolaunch Roc, a massive twin-fuselage aircraft known for having the largest wingspan of any plane ever built.
As it turns out, this strange-looking airplane can perform way better than most people give it credit for.

The world’s ugliest airplane can carry some serious weight
The real Stratolaunch Roc is an engineering monster.

Built by Scaled Composites, the aircraft has a wingspan of 385 feet (117 meters), making it the widest airplane ever to take to the skies.
For comparison, that is wider than the length of an entire football field.
The giant aircraft also uses six Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines originally sourced from retired Boeing 747 jets, along with landing gear components from the same aircraft.
Its unusual design features two fuselages connected by a giant central wing, with the cockpit located in the right fuselage.
The space between the fuselages is designed to carry rockets that can be launched at high altitude.

This ‘air-launch’ concept allows rockets to start their journey above much of Earth’s atmosphere, saving fuel and offering more flexible launch locations.
Of course, Swiss001’s flight simulator version had a slightly different goal.
Instead of launching rockets, he decided to see what ridiculous cargo the aircraft could carry.
First up was a passenger jet.

Using the plane’s enormous central mounting point, he attached an Airbus A320 beneath the wing just to see if the massive aircraft could still take off.
Thanks to the six powerful engines and a surprisingly low empty weight, the aircraft actually managed to lift the jet into the air inside the simulator.

The YouTuber pushed the plane to its limits
That success led to even more absurd experiments.
At one point, he attempted to carry a giant boat weighing far more than the real aircraft was designed to handle.

Predictably, things went sideways quickly, and the ship ended up as lost cargo.

Despite the chaos, the flight simulator experiment highlights just how incredible the real Stratolaunch concept is.
The aircraft was originally designed to carry rockets weighing hundreds of thousands of pounds to altitudes of around 30,000 feet before release.
So while it might look like the world’s ugliest airplane, you can’t fault its abilities.
