Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee recently revealed that Tesla and Elon Musk had quite a brutal reaction after he sold his Tesla Cybertruck EV.

The Cybertruck has not had the birth expected by the electric car company, with issues such as production delays, parts falling off, and a recall each having an impact.

In fact, some reports say there are up to $800 million worth of unsold Cybertrucks sitting around.

Brownlee was one of those who bought one, but after selling it, the reaction from the company and Musk wasn’t quite what the YouTuber had been expecting.

This is what Musk and Tesla said about the sale of the Cybertruck

The incident is not the first time that Brownlee has ‘butted heads’ with the manufacturer.

He canceled his order for the Roadster EV.

Then he said he would shave his head if the Robotaxi was released before 2027.

Yet the wildest story came after a recent TikTok video posted featuring Brownlee.

In the video, he said he had to source his own Model Y Performance for a review in January 2026.

But he also said that since selling his truck, the company and Musk no longer talk to him.

“Elon unfollows me on Twitter. Everyone goes nuts. I never hear from Tesla again,” said Brownlee

After opting to sell the Tesla Cybertruck but keep his Rivian, the internet exploded, and it caused a real stir.

Yet it wasn’t a move that Brownlee expected; in fact, he was stunned by how it unfolded.

Why Marques Brownlee was shocked by what happened

Brownlee seemed to be a content creator that the EV manufacturer liked.

He was one of just three who gained early access to the Tesla Cybertruck.

Marques Brownlee didn’t insult Musk or the company, nor did he create a scathing review.

For whatever reason, the company just didn’t like the fact that he had sold the pickup truck.

Ironically, his review of the Model Y Performance was incredibly positive.

“The thing about testing one and actually driving a Tesla for a while, you start to remember all of the ways that Tesla is still ahead of the competition,” he said.

There was little, if anything, that Brownlee could fault about the electric car.

This simply makes the reaction from the electric car giant more confusing.
