YouTuber Mat Armstrong is still attempting to rebuild the Chiron Pur Sport supercar that Bugatti said was impossible, with company boss Mate Rimac even watching the video.

Armstrong has been rebuilding the car for a fellow YouTuber, but Bugatti itself isn’t involved in the fix, with Rimac giving several reasons as to why.

Despite this, the British YouTuber is still determined to get this $6 million supercar back on the road, with or without the help of the manufacturer.

The rebuild has caused a fair amount of controversy, but Armstrong does not want to see the car go for scrap.

How Armstrong is rebuilding the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

The latest obstacle has been the damaged transmission in the Chiron.

To access it, the supercar needs to be split, and Rimac said only two places in the world can do this.

That is what Armstrong wanted to prove wrong in the recent video.

As they stripped it, they found the car was largely built on a bolt-on modular design.

That means there are lots of accessible bolts, with the engine cover held on by just two.

Removing the airboxes revealed 14 structural titanium bolts, fastening the front and rear sections together.

Armstrong and the team were then able to disconnect battery terminals, coolant lines, and electrical looms.

Armstrong was able to separate the Bugatti supercar

Soon, the team was able to locate the remaining fasteners and fuel lines and remove them.

After some gentle persuasion, the front tub of the Chiron Pur Sport was split from the rear drivetrain frame.

Separating the two revealed the extra damage that they feared had taken place.

The forces of the crash shoved the engine of the Bugatti forward, squashing a coolant pipe and denting other areas.

But the biggest failure was the broken cast aluminum engine-mount support.

Thankfully, the main engine block itself had escaped serious damage.

Even the transmission was able to be separated from the main block.

But the biggest challenge will be putting everything back together, if or when it is fixed.

With Mate Rimac watching in the comments section, all eyes at Bugatti are very much on this rebuild.
