Popular YouTuber Mat Armstrong has responded to Mate Rimac after the Bugatti CEO refused to provide parts for his at-home Chiron rebuild project.

Mat Armstrong is a specialist at reviving smashed-up supercars.

But it sometimes leaves him at odds with manufacturers who dislike seeing their limited-edition cars rebuilt outside of their own factories due to quality assurance fears.

Despite this, Armstrong’s not going down without a fight.

Mate Rimac puts the shackles on this Chiron Pur Sport rebuild

This Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport saga is beginning to become quite a clash of the titans.

Originally owned by content creator Alex Gonzalez (fxalexgyt), the Chiron was damaged during a stunt, and it was soon found listed on Copart in a pretty poor state.

With the chance to own one of the only 60 supercars in the Pur Sport range, Mat Armstrong leaped at the opportunity to take this doer-upper home.

But his attempts to get it back on the road have been thwarted by Bugatti itself.

The manufacturer locked the VIN number, meaning no dealership in the world would supply the parts to support the at-home rebuild.

Earlier this month, Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac took to social media to discuss the saga, revealing that the only place to fix this car was in the Molsheim factory.

In a video posted to Instagram, the Bugatti CEO claimed the intricate parts of a Bugatti could not be 3D printed from home.

He also stated that the prices of parts listed in certain videos were false and inflated.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Bugatti service, repair, and maintenance costs online, and most of what you hear is simply not true,” Rimac said.

However, he did say that the car was welcome in the Molshiem, France, facility if Armstrong wanted to fly it over.

Now, Armstrong’s responded to that offer.

Mat Armstrong claims he’s not giving up and hopes to get the Bugatti CEO on side

In a new upload to his channel, Mat Armstrong said he wasn’t going to give up on his plan to rebuild the Chiron himself.

The mechanic also admitted he was startled that Bugatti leadership was even watching his content, never mind engaging with it.

He said he didn’t want to start any ‘beef’, he just wanted a solution that didn’t cost the original $1.7M quote from Bugatti.

“It is absolutely mental that the CEO of Bugatti is one even watching the videos, and two, made a kind of response video to it,” he said.

“It was Alex’s choice to get the car rebuilt privately rather than send it to Bugatti… he was worried that as soon as that car goes to Bugatti in France, it stays there. They start stripping it apart, and then they find more and more issues with it, and the price adds up more.”

The YouTube personality revealed that he still intended to try to fix it himself and hoped the Bugatti CEO would meet him halfway and allow him to buy the parts needed for the rebuild.

He also said he would agree to waive any rights to warranties and would accept full responsibility for the project.

“I have no choice but to try this, and it’s not going to cost me anything to try it,” he said.

“Of course, we’re not going to be able to do it to Bugatti’s factory standards. But again, we’re going to give it a go.”

He said the next step of the Chiron Pur Sport rebuild was to split the car in half and take a look at the gearbox and engine damage.

Armstrong said that was where the real fun would start.

So, will the Bugatti CEO respond? We wait with bated breath.
