Starting in February 2025, Mercedes-Benz EV cars will be able to access the Tesla Supercharger network in the US.

This will open up the option to charge these cars in any of the 20,000 Supercharger stations across America.

The Tesla Supercharger network will be integrated into the ‘Mercedes Me Charge’ service for all Mercedes-Benz drivers.

Good news, right?

Mercedes-Benz EV cars can now charge at a Tesla Supercharger

Mercedes-Benz EV cars will now be able to enjoy ‘Plug & Charge’ functionality at Tesla Superchargers.

This feature will automatically start the charging session upon plugging in the car then seamlessly process payments in the background when charging ends.

In addition to that, new Mercedes EV or PHEV models purchased this year will come equipped with the newly standardized North American Charging Standard (NACS) port.

Existing Mercedes-Benz EV owners can also buy an adapter at their local dealership for $185.

Unfortunately, Canadian owners will have to wait until Q2 2025 to get access to the adapter.

Standardized charging system

“By opening access to Tesla Superchargers in North America to our customers, we underline our commitment to providing our customers with as many charging options as possible,” said Franz Reiner, Chairman of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG.

“The fast-growing network of charging points available in Mercedes Me Charge will now expand to over 110,000 public charging points across the United States and Canada,” he added.

However, Mercedes is not the only automaker who has switched to NACS port.

Automakers like Ford, Rivian, BMW, Mini, Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen Group, and more have all adapted the NACS port for their EV cars.

Now that a standardized charging system has been established it will make things much easier for the customers.

However, according to one Reddit user, it might be cheaper to charge your EVs at home rather than at a Tesla Supercharger.

Still, the more people using electric cars – no matter where they get charged – the better the planet will be for it.
