Fuel economy is always a big issue with car owners, especially in today’s world, but not for this 2024 Toyota Camry owner.
One woman’s review of her new ride has sparked a wave of debate on social media.
On TikTok, Queen Tay (@queentayshops) is a thriving thrift influencer who is always looking for value.
She recently posted a video that has completely taken off online.

Money for nothing: How much difference did the Camry make?
In the video, which has now amassed 6.2 million views, the woman explained that she used to own a 2014 Nissan Altima, but decided to swap it for a brand new, 2025 Toyota Camry.
The objective of the exercise was to work out how much a tank of gas would cost for her new car compared to her old Altima. The results were…interesting to say the least.
The Jackson, Mississippi native noted the gas prices at her local station.
She said that gas costs $2.69 per gallon, which used to cost around $55 to completely fill up her old 2014 Nissan Altima.
To her immense shock, the total bill for her Toyota Camry came to $28.26 – just under HALF her original gas bill with her old Altima.

“Oh my gosh, that cannot be full,” Tay said, still shocked at the saving.
In case anyone thought it was a lie, Tay turned on her ignition to prove her point.
Lo and behold, the Camry’s dashboard lit up and showed a full tank of gas.
Tay finished her video by noting that, ‘maybe the $40,000 dollar investment was worth it.’
With saving nearly 50% on her original gas bill, who can argue with her?
Toyota Camry economy sparks driver debate online
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Tay’s video quickly sparked a large debate on TikTok, with some viewers left very jealous of the $2.69 per gallon gas prices.
One person replied in a comment: “That would fill a quarter of my tank. Plus, it takes premium.”
Another person said: “Bigger flex than any Benz or BMW.”
Another person made a very interesting point in mentioning that ‘it’s bc [sic] it’s part hybrid. So you get the best miles per gallon, and you pay cheaper for gas. My 2019 cost me 45 to fill.’
However, others noted the price of gas abroad and pointed out the cost of gas specifically within the state of Mississippi.

One person commented, “Ok these gas prices are crazy… this tank of gas would be like 80-100 USD in Finland. I wish gas was that cheap.”
Another joked that they would run to Jackson, Mississippi, saying: “Y’all gas is 2.69 a gallon…. I’m finna SPRINT to Mississippi.”
Queen Tay released a follow-up video to her viral hit and provided some context.
She clarified that she gets such cheap gas due to nearby oil refineries, as well as low taxes on gas in her state.
It feels like a move to Mississippi might look very appealing to people following Queen Tay’s viral vid.
