A Facebook Marketplace seller is bravely attempting to sell an original Tesla Roadster that has no hood and doesn’t run for tens of thousands of dollars.
The seller is located in Syosset, New York, and what makes his listing even more bizarre is his claim that he is ‘not really interested in cash offers.’
Instead, the seller is seeking a trade for an older sports car.
In addition, he is open to any sports car and claims, ‘the crazier, the better.’

The Tesla Roadster lacks a clean title
The Roadster’s lack of title makes the sale even more challenging.
Currently, only a salvage title is available with the EV, but according to the seller, even that will need restoring.
That will only add to the difficulties the seller might face in selling the sports car.
The biggest problem, however, is the price.
At the time of writing, the 2011 Roadster was on Facebook Marketplace for $40,000.
For comparison, you could buy a fully functioning second-hand Lotus for that price.
In fact, you could buy a brand new Toyota GR86 for $10,000 less than this messy Roadster.
Don’t forget, you will also need to spend money on getting this Roadster back on the road.
The owner had unusual plans for the Tesla
Interestingly, the current owner of the Roadster wasn’t intending to restore it as an EV.
The listing claims they were planning to ‘engine swap’ the sports car, but another project prevented them from doing so.
While it might look a mess, the listing does confirm it has all its body panels and lights.
Except for the hood, which is missing, the seller claims that it is ‘easy to find though.’
How easy it really is to find, though, remains to be seen.
Ironically, this might be one of the best ways to acquire one of these cars. They rarely come up for sale, and their overall collectability can really drive up the price.
According to Classic.com, the lowest record auction price for a Roadster is $45,000, while the highest currently stands at $220,420.
